It's been a while since I've updated this, no excuses, no BS, I just haven't felt like putting anything down "in print". Work sucks, plain and simple. Yeah, we're busy so that part is good with job security and all that, but where the hell are all the good workers?? I'm the shop foreman/safety officer for a local manufacturing company, we pay our welders well for this area and only ask for 10 hours a day, 4 days a week. Now before someone gets butt-hurt and thinks that because I'm in a quasi-management position, I don't know what it's like, I should preface this by saying I didn't get to this point by having a HR degree, in fact I don't have any degrees(yes, that is one regret I have). I came to this point the hard way, started at the bottom and worked my way up, learning every aspect of our company and proving I was competent, loyal, and willing to go the "extra" for the good of the company. Thanks to my parents and the U.S. Army, I have a good work ethic and my guys know that if they have a problem and are right I will back them 100%. I won't say that our company is without issues with upper management and the owners(sometimes I feel more like a mediator)but the bottom line is, they sign the checks, therefore they call the shots. Anyway, back to my original question, where are all the good workers?? I fired 3 guys last week, for what you may ask? No, they didn't steal from us, they all passed our mandatory drug screening, but none of them could show up for work on time, were consistently late for work without a reason and would leave without communicating to us a reason. They all had decent abilities in their respective positions, they were all just lazy. WTF!! How damn hard is it to put in 40 hours a flippin' week!! O.k., enough of that rant, lol!
I've been racking up the miles on my sporty getting to know her. So far I'm right at 5000 miles for the year with allot of good riding days to go and the more miles I put on her the more I like her. So far the only mods are Hooker Rebel pipes, a detachable backrest/luggage rack, and a Mustang 2 piece seat. The Mustang seat is by far the best add on yet, 500 mile days are no longer a problem. I've decided to with quick-detach everything making it something of a convertible. I really like being able to go from solo hot rod to light touring in a matter of minutes. Pics to come when I get another camera, it exploded into a bunch of little pieces on highway 36 yesterday when my son dropped it at about 65mph trying to take "action shots", lol!
Speaking of my son, my oldest son, Jim, has rediscovered his love of riding and has been putting on alot of miles with me and I'm lovin' it! I really proud of him. 2 weeks ago he graduated college with an Associates Degree in Computer Aided Drafting. He's overcome some issues in his personal life and really dedicated himself to getting his degree. He had a great GPA, and made it into the National Technical Honor Society, I'm very proud of you Jim!! Now for the fun, finding a job.
Well, enough for now, I'm off for a ride with the SCRC chapter I'm a member of, time for some back roads and BBQ!
