Vacation 12, pt 2

Our main reason for this trip, time with our son, daughter-in-law, and grandson! With 1000 miles separating us there's never enough time, spend time with your loved ones, it goes way too fast.

Vacation '12, part 1

On June 7th my wife and I loaded up on our '02 Kawasaki Drifter and set off on our annual road trip. 18 days off and the wind is calling! It has become our annual 2 wheel trip to Gulfport Ms to see our son, daughter-in-law(both SeaBees in the Navy), and our 1st grandson, Colton, who is now 6 months old. With them being 1000 miles away any chance we have we take advantage of and with Jayson deploying to the Philippines this coming weekend for 6 months we took full advantage of it. The 1st leg of our trip took us across Missouri and we called it a day 545 miles later in Jonesboro Ar.
Our Drifter loaded and ready!

Arkansas is simply beautiful!

Crossing into Memphis Tn

south to Gulfport, 400 miles of this.....

My wife being sneaky and getting a pic of me, lol!
There's not a lot of pics of our arrival in Gulfport since it was rush hour and raining like crazy, takes stress to whole new level!

More to come!

Fortunate........

Today started out like a normal Sunday morning, sleep in a little, usually till about 8am or so, get up, get my coffee and check the web and be lazy for a bit. About 10 am or so I decide to fire up "The Bitch", my '76 ironhead sportster and go for a ride over to visit a brother I haven't seen in a few weeks.

After hanging out there for a couple hours, talking scoots, and planning a road trip, I headed back home. Total trip was about 30 miles, not long, but the time spent with a brother is priceless. He is one of a handful of people I will call brother. I met him in '97 if I remember right, lol! Dan has been there with me through thick and thin, a true brother from the word go. Hell, I stood with him at his wedding, Dan, Jada, Kortlyn and Karson are family. While there another brother showed up, I've known Bill since '93 and I've not had a truer friend. Through everything Bill has been a true friend. Time spent with them is priceless.

Once I got home my wife wanted to go for a short ride. Who am I to argue?! So I get the Drifter out. My '02 Kawasaki Vulcan Drifter 1500. She's a caddy on 2-wheels, lol!
We take a quick ride to pick up some beer, about 40 miles round trip, lol! My wife has put up with me and been my best friend for 25 years this November. There's no words that can put that into perspective. We have truly lived our vows and will spend the rest of our lives together.

My wife sent a snack to work with me last week and you'll never guess who I thought about-

Yup, I miss my Sunshine! I am so proud of you for living life on your terms and taking on your new adventure. Believe in yourself.....I do.

As I sit here thinking of my wife, 2 sons, 2 daughter-in-laws, one grandson, one granddaughter on the way, that I love more than anything and am very proud of, my brothers and true friends, from a computer in a house that is paid for, enjoying a beer and a fine Nicaraguan cigar(thanks Mike!) , I think of how fortunate I am. While I may not be among the wealthy(monetarily), I am rich with a loving family and true friends. There's a lot of reasons for all of this, but one underlying reason is that we're American, we live in a free country, we are free to choose our destiny, our life. While it is true that some other countries enjoy some of the same freedoms,  living in another country for an extended period makes one realize how fortunate we really are.

None of this would be possible had it not been for people that believed in freedom and were willing to sacrifice their lives for it. Remember and honor those that paid the ultimate price for freedom and those that currently serve our Nation. Being a vet, I am honored to call all of you brother, whether it be Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Police, and Firefighters. We are free because of those before us and we will stay free because of those presently serving. Thank you for making us all fortunate.

Hot Rods and Harleys!

Took all 3 of my bikes to Mayberry's Bar & Grill for their 1st Annual Hot Rods and Harleys. It's the 1st event of it's kind for our little town, a badly needed shot in the arm so to speak for a dwindling community. All in all a great turnout for the 1st one!

Then it was time to party! The Randall Zwarte Band put on one hell of a show in Mayberry's!

The Bitch.....

She started out innocently enough, a stock '76 HD XLH Sportster. Since bringing her home I've been able to give her a little TLC in the form of a good cleaning, solid riser slugs, Biltwell H-bars, a Builtwell solo seat, get rid of the nasty looking front fender, don't need the stock speedo or tach either, might as well get rid of the front blinkers while I'm at it, and finish off this round with new tires.

There's more in store for her, but for now it's time to enjoy the ride! She has officially (and affectionately)  been dubbed "The Bitch". She's temperamental,  twitchy, and screams like a bitch when ya ride her hard!

Just venting.....

Why do people buy a motorcycle to ride then load the damn thing on trailer to go somewhere? Really!?!Ride the fuckin' thing!

Dealing with OSHA regs sucks!

Mandatory over-time sucks....I'll like the paycheck though!

Just a thought to Indy shops, I realize inventory is costly, but stock stuff! If you got something I want on the shelf I'll pay you for it instead of ordering it. Don't tell me you can order it, hell, I can do that!

WTF is up with the "Craigslist cops" grow the fuck up and get a life!

Using a 37" flat screen TV as my monitor is awesome!!

Stupid people shouldn't breed.

Fuck being politically correct....some people need to be offended.

Why do people care about what other people ride?

Why do people move here and then bitch about how bad it sucks? Don't like it? Leave! Pretty damn simple.

Rant off..
