vacation '12, part 9

Time to head to Kansas City! We woke to a steady rain, but with the forecast calling for clearing conditions to the north, we loaded up and rolled out anyway!
23 north out of E.S. is a cool ride too, even in the rain!

it flattens out quick in Mo.

It looked like we were going to see more rain, but it never happened.

Our future daughter-in-law, Paige, welcomes us to K.C

Paige is due at the end of August, we are so excited for our 1st grand-daughter!

Hangin out at Grinders in KC with Jimmy and Paige

Paige and my wife decided to take a picture of each other at the same time, lol!

The only downside to the vacation was me getting sick in KC. We had dinner and drinks at Grinders and that night I got sick, spent the next 3 days in bed at Jimmy and Paige's apartment. I owe them a weekend, lol! All in all it was a great vacation, 2300 miles on 2 wheels and priceless time spent with our family.

Yes, this is the end, lol!

Vacation '12, pt 8

I love riding in the Ozarks!! Arkansas is one of my favorite places to ride, bar none. This time we rode  highway 23, the Pig Trail, from Ozark, Ar into Eureka Springs, Ar. It's an absolutely gorgeous ride.

Walking around Eureka Springs definitely makes one thirsty!

Our lodging for the night

Indian Larry themed room

Covered parking was a nice touch.

Eureka Springs, Ar is without a doubt one of my favorite locations. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous, plenty of twisty roads to be explored, high quality, well maintained roads at that! One can base out of E.S. and spend days exploring the Ozarks. Lodging rates are very reasonable. We stayed at Riders Rest, a biker only motel, each room is motorcycle themed, we had the Indian Larry room. The rooms were very clean, the beds comfortable, and there's an outdoor BYOB bar complete with fire pit right on the property. The managers are super nice folks that understand bikers and one of the cool things about a biker only motel is the cool folks you meet. We'll definitely be going back!
